  • Engine: 64 Champ runs but won't start

Today I had my 259 Champ out at the feed store. After loading I turned the key and the truck lurched. I had left it parked in reverse in OD. I neglected to put the clutch down or shift to neutral. I was trying to start in reverse in OD, I know not to do that. Anyway I released the key as soon as the truck moved. Then when I tried to start properly, turning the key gave no result, no click, no crank, no nothing. Fortunately I was parked on a slight grade and was able to start on compression and drive home. Turning the key still gets no results.

    Where should I start looking?

The small start wire on the "S" Terminal fell off of the Solenoid, or off of the Ignition Switch.

Or, the extra resistance of driving the truck on the Starter may have loosened a poor connection somewhere in that circuit.
