Thanks, Rick, your carb linkage is different tho.
I have to have the metal spark plug wire loom one head bolt back from the distrib. (closer to the firewall) in order for the carb linkage to work/fit properly. I know this is not correct, it should be right over the distrib.
It was correct when I took it apart is what is killing me but now I can't seem to get it back that way. It is making me look pretty stupid.
Maybe others can add some more pix,
          thanks

Keep in mind that the fit is tight. I just installed mine and had to adjust the position of the loom holder on the head so that the linkage would move freely. I also ended up welding in a new linkage pivot rod into the loom holder. My pivot rod was badly worn. I also had to bend the rod going to the pedal to clear the coil. Here are some pics on my blog for you:

I also added 1/2" to the width of the loom holder to accommodate 7.5 mm wires from MSD. And I added an aluminum bracket to hold the throttle return spring to the firewall.

Thanks. No wonder I am confused. I thought the rod to the carb went straight across the block; the pix show it going diagonally. You never take enough pix before you start to dismantle, no matter how many you take
