  • Cool/Heat: 1962 Lark/350 Chevy. electric fan?

As most of you know; I'm dropping Ye Olde Belly Button AKA a Chevy 350 into my 1962 Lark.

I am using the 1965-66 Lark 283 motor mount pedestals for simplicity but I have a radiator fan problem since the engine has the later style front accessories (alternator on the right, etc.). If I take off the fan; I'm 99% sure that a Jeep CJ Chevy conversion radiator will slip in. Now; can I run an electric fan and either wire it straight (downstream of the ignition switch) or, should I use a temp sensor to actuate it?

I would prefer not to buy earlier style brackets, water pump, pulleys, etc. if I can avoid it.

Sold my 1962; Studeless at the moment

    Borrowed Bams50's sigline here:

"Do they all not, by mere virtue of having survived as relics of a bygone era, amass a level of respect perhaps not accorded to them when they were new?"

Always always ALWAYS use a relay..
You should wire it so a temp switch will turn it on (and off)
Add an override switch, so you can anticipate that traffic jam you are driving up to....or that slow cruise after the show, or that parade you want to drive in.
Pull fan is better than a push fan.
Shrouds help the fan at low speed.
