Where is the timing marks on a 62 gt hawk with 289 engine. I have looked and looked and can't find it.

Look at the drivers side front of the engine, there should be a pointer sticking out of the timing cover which will line up with the second notch cut into the harmonic balancer which is marked ignition when the timing is set correctly. Be sure to disconnect the vacuum line from the vacuum advance and get the idle down to around 500 rpm to set the timing. If your car is equipped with power steering, it's tougher to see the timing marks as the power steering pump obstructs the timing marks. Bud
