  • Engine: Oil Filter - 170CI 6cyl in line 6 1950 Champion

I recently bought a 1950 Champion. Wanted to change the oil. No problem, got Amzoil for it but could not find an oil filter. Looked at the manual but all I found was oil in line cylindrical type filter/

Does anyone info on an add on for a regular oil filter to a 170ci 6 cylinder 1950 Champion engine ? Or suggestions?

Oil filter's were optional on some models. It is highly likely your Champion came from the factory without an oil filter.

Unless this is going to be your daily driver, simply change the oil every year. The filter was an option at that time and, only partial flow.
You can find the canister at auctions or swap meets or by appealing here. Feed lines are available at SI or you can make your own.
I think Amsoil is a fine product but, unless you've just done a fresh rebuild, I would use 15-40 with some zinc additive. A sixty-year-old Champion 170 is not a CTS, or even a 4.3 Vortec.

I agree with Rockne. I've owned my '59 Lark VI for 20 years. It doesn't have an oil filter, so I change the oil every Autumn with 20W-50 with a zinc additive. Or, I have used Valvoline 20W-50 Racing Oil. It already has the necessary zinc in it. I haven't had any problems with this routine.
