  • Stupid engine painting question

I'm getting ready to paint my water manifold. I assume that the mating surfaces (water pump, manifold to block) should be left bare?

Dumb question, but better safe than sorry [B)]

I check and correct any mating surface issues before the paintwork. Clean up when the surfaces are flat and get some blue masking tape for the mating surface. This is a low tack tape so the paint on the rest of the manifold won't peel from pulling the tape. As mentioned, a clean surface will seal better than a painted one.
