  • Body / Glass: 1962 Hawk Hood Fit

The hood on the Hawk does not fit very good. It fits perfect on the cowl and almost perfect at the front but in the middle it is raised on both sides at least 1/2" above the fender and there is separation from fender as well. It is almost like the center needs to be squashed down to close the gap. Can this be corrected? Thanks, Chet445

Yes. Likely the hood has been pushed down against the restraint/resistance of stiff/unlubricated hinges. Over time, this will bow the middle section of the hood. It is easier to create this condition than it is to cure it.

I massaged mine back with a strong back underneathe the curve, and padded wood working clamps to pull the curve back down. Do a little at a time, and check it. I went too far the first time. Good luck.

I will work on the strong back and let folks know the result. Sure sounds like a good plan.
