  • Body / Glass: 56 hawk fins

My question is can i/how hard is it to put fiberglass fins on a 56 skyhawk? Also what is the process to make it look natural?

So i know most people will think why would you do that? Well I got the car for 600$ and there's not much left of it. I've decided instead of investing a fortune to restore it I will have some fun and modify the hell out of it.
The plan is to give it a 53 front end with the 57 fins. Blacked out and debadged. Probably going to give it a nova frame with 350 and and 700r4. Maybe a 9 in rear end. Not real sure on that yet but im trying to make a plan for the body so I need to know how to add the fins.

    Modified, it's easy.

A restoration-level, with correct chrome check marks, stainless trim, taillight housings, will cost way more than the $600 you paid for the Sky Hawk.

Ok so howa bout no chrome and no fins. Anybody ever done this? The only pictures ive found are of the cars that were modified. Can i make it look natural with out the chrome by just bondoing over the holes.

You mention "fiberglass fins" and then you mention "57 fins". 1957 Hawk fins were steel NOT fiberglass. 1956 Golden Hawk fins were fiberglass.

The fins were/are bolted and screwed on. leaving off chrome and trim strip will leave heads exposed. try countersunk head pop rivets if steel, dodn think 'glass fins will hold the rivets that well. eventually the bondo will crack around the rivets, so i used a skim of glass resin, also helps seal. luck Doofus

Was 1956 the only year that the Golden Hawk came with fiberglass find?

Yes, assuming that "find" is a mistake for fins.
