  • Engine: Correct oil filter for 57 Golden Hawk

    Dumb question for sure.

Need filter part number for Wix, Baldwin or other quality filter (not a fram) for 57 GH.

Assuming it is one with an anti drain back check valve of some kind, seeing that it mounts upside down on top of the engine. That is the way it is on my Ferrari with upside down filters.

Don't want to trust the ebay sellers to get it right. They show Wix 51050, Hastings LF 117. I don't believe either of those has an anti drain back valve.
But they also show some cartridge types, which can't be correct.

    Any help appreciated.

Fram PB 50 or 'Champ' PB 50 Not sure what Napa says. It should be an easy cross over though...

Should be an easy find, but they never 'list' them for a 2 year only thing at modern stores.
The thing is it was on other Stude engines, just sat in a different spot...

I use the WIX 51050 on my 59 Silver Hawk partial flow 259. That filter will not drain back on my engine.... it will not matter anyway, the filter is at the end of the pressure feed. From there it goes back to the oil pan.

Assuming a PB50... Mann filters are excellent quality. Our shop uses them exclusively for high-end European cars.

Thanks for the input. I found Baldwin filters, number B50.
