Cool/Heat: Radiator dimension for a 58 Studebaker Champion

Hi,

I have a very original Studebaker Champion. It has done about 100 miles all up since manufactured in South Bend in early 1958. Interesting history. Although she is in extremely original and good condition there are a few small anomalies. One is the radiator as it looks to have been replaced and possibly with the wrong size as it doesn't seem long enough.

If anyone has access to a 1958 Studebaker Champion (or 56 and 57 as I understand the same radiator size was used) with a custom fit radiator and can measure the length, width and depth for me that would be greatly appreciated.

Is there a metal tag soldered to the top tank? Numbers on the tag?

No. The whole unit looks new. The issue seems to be in length between top and bottom tanks.

Can't find any pictures of the Radiator there.

If it is a Studebaker Radiator and has the Metal Tag on the Top Tank, it would be the Studebaker Part Number, but I suspect it is a Brand X if it's too short.

It should completely FILL the space inside of the Radiator Saddle.
I measured a '58 Radiator at 27" Wide and 32" Tall to the outside limits of the Mounting Strips on the sides and the outside of the upper and lower Tanks. The actual CORE of Tubes would be smaller than these numbers.

All Studebaker Radiators of a given year range for Sedan & Wagons are the same size, what varies is the Hose Inlet & Outlet Diameter and the Lower Outlet Location for 6 or 8 Cyl. Cars is different but not by much.

Here is a bit of the Top Tank, looks like a GM Harrison or "Other" make. The Cap is not centered like a Stude.

Being that the car was sold new (and assembled?) overseas, maybe the radiator was supplied locally instead of from the factory? Some countries required a certain percentage of car parts to be from local sources.

STUDRICH the 32" height seems a bit high, maybe 22". I have a 54 and it is 19 1/2" high and I can't imagine it could be 12 1/2" higher.

It only has 100 miles on the odometer
