1964 Daytona Convertible Registry

Just curious to see if anyone is keeping tract of the remaining 64 Convertibles as there were so few originally made.

Art Unger was keeping a roster of Hamilton-assembled 1964 convertibles, and first appeared in the May, 1984 Turning Wheels. He was still maintaining a record of them up until his passing. Not sure if anyone has taken over though.

I have a South Bend built '64 convert to add to a roster for whomever wants to begin such a roster. I am currently awaiting the arrival of it's production order copy from the Studebaker museum. I am curious to find out it's original color as the paint code tag is missing.

I have a regular 289 1964 Convertible for $4500.00
Not for the faint hearted! This car has AM/FM and needs lot of work.
This car is buried in my basement so no pictures.

Before he passed, Art told me he had been talking to George Krem on doing an updated article for Turning Wheels but in a subsequent communication with George such wasn't a priority. I would love to see a registry started if someone out there would undertake it.

1964 Daytona Convertible, serial 64VC2294, Hamilton-built December 1963, Bordeaux Red, black top, red interior, show condition,
259 V8, automatic, power steering and brakes added when restored approximately 1975, split bench reclining seats

How how does one go about putting a car in their basement ?

If you are ever near Joliet, you need to give Bob a call and visit his Studebaker building. Once you see it, you will understand how all those cars get in his basement. It is definitely a trip worth making and should be on everyones bucket list.

I shipped one of those R2 convertibles to Melbourne from Michigan back in 1994.

I have a 64 R1 convertible in many parts, I bought the whole car with many normal holes and took it apart so that I could store it until I got time to do frame up restore.
