Where do I find an original (non-cogged) fan belt ? Book says it is 3/8" x 57" One from SI is cogged and cost me 5 points.

    Lost 5 points?
    Where?
Does the judging manual not exclude fan belts?
I have many original belts , give me a part number and I will look.

Most of the sources only carry the cogged belts because they work better. I think this might work, though I find it hard to believe a 5 point doc for a fan belt.

I have an original Studebaker branded belt on our '63 Daytona, got it at SASCO some years ago. It is quite a conversation piece at shows. There should be non cogged major brand belts out there as well, just need to check around. Check Gates, Goodyear etc. Dayco if I remember right is cogged.

I knew it wasn't a SDC show. I was going to make a comment about SDC judging but discretion is the better part of valor. stupak

Don't know the rules, but if the type of fan belt matters, then doesn't it follow that the type of tires and tread pattern also matter? Yikes, no wonder I'm not into these events.

Where in the judge book does it mention cogged belts? http://www.aaca.org/images/meet_broc...Guidelines.pdf

Did they really deduct for this? At what show? I am taking my car to the Grand National and don't want to loose 5, but don't want to change the belts either!

                    17. Batteries, headlights, belts, tires,
hoses and clamps may be of modern
manufacture, but must be visually of
the era of the vehicle and of the type
                    specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
                    Specific brand is not important.

                    Still looking for a belt.

Appear you didn't follow the link to graiger-it's a visually accurate belt fitting the definition.

Ken, I checked my original belts, and do have a 1546085 which is listed as Belt, compressor and fan drive for 60V and 61V. This would most likely be too long unless you have air conditioning.

Also found that I had a 518067 belt for '47 thru '50 Commander, and also two Avanti supercharger belts p/n 1555319.

Would you have a 185745 for the 35-37 president motors?

Are you looking for an "original" "Studebaker" "NOS" belt ?
Not a replacement belt that is non cogged ?
