  • Steering column seal

Has anyone here installed a new steering column seal on a Hawk without pulling the steering column? How well did it work out?
Sure seems to be a PITA to have to pull the column? I seem to remember someone talking about sliting the seal but can't find the post. Thanks.

Unless you cut it, it's gotta go over one end or the other. I think you could remove steering wheel, shifter and signals, then unbolt from dash and slide the dash collar off. After that, reassembly and repainting the scratches, which is easier?

I have split large "o" rings before and resealed them with black silicone... never had a problem as long as there is no "sideways" stress - i.e. the seal fits in the hole or against a stop and is not being pulled when in place.
