  • Interior: door panel

I am attempting to replace the door panel that was home made on my power hawk and I noticed the door handle sits flush against the door panel while the window crank regulator shank is recessed approx 1/4"which requires much more effort to engage the lock clip. Is this the way it was made or do I have a problem? Any help or suggestions.

There *should* be a large conical shaped spring behind the panel to push it out against an escutcheon and plastic washer between the panel and the handle. SI should have all these pieces for your car.

If the above does not fix it, it is possible that someone put the wrong Window regulator in there with a shorter shank. Does it have the correct Round serrated Shaft for the Handle.

Robert, You say the Door panel is "Home made" is it possible it's a bit bowed/warped outward in that area and creating an illusion ?
