Never change your oil?

    When I was onboard ship (many decades ago) we only changed oil when there was a problem or after a rebuild. The oil from all the engines was put through a Lube Oil Purifier while the engine was running. The LOP is a centrifugal device which spun out all impurities. It was a pain to clean, the carbon would not come off your hands. What was weird was fresh water was needed for it to operate properly. Neal
