  • 1950 Heater Contol Valve

    hello again everyone.

My heater control valve is leaking bad. It is so corroded I don't think I can slap a seal in it. Anyway, I haven't been able to locate one yet. Studebaker has rebuilds but only if you ship them the old one first. Does anyone have one for sale??? This one has the mecury heast sense tube attached to it like a refrig contol.

    Thanks,
    chuck

I'll have to dig through my interchange info, but I seem to remember reading years ago that some American Motors products used the same type of valve and could be used on Studes. I don't know if they'd be any easier to find, but at least they were still around long after Studebaker was defunct.

One other thing, you don't have to have a valve with the heat sensing tube. All they did was adjust the flow through the valve somewhat to compensate for outside air temperature changes so you did less fiddling with the control.

Sometimes I see them on e/bay. Might be worth a look.[8D]
