Does anyone have a recommendation as to where I can get a little chrome plating done? I need someplace reasonable and I want something nice not necessarily show quality. All I have is the "STUDEBAKER" hood side script, the front two-piece nameplate, the hood ornament and two headlight bezels for my '51 2R. All have some pitting but not too bad.

Might be as cheap to buy all new reproduction parts.

I have seen reproductions of the "STUDEBAKER" side scripts, I didn't think anyone made the front hood emblem or top hood ornament? Do you know where I can get these?

I know the bezels have been done, and the side script and I once saw the hood ornament too, but don't recall who did it.

The front one's never been done - or if it has, it wasn't very plentiful. The side ones were done once, but I see that good used ones are commanding stiff prices of late, so I doubt that there's any repros still around.

Cheap and decent aren't to be found in the world of chrome plating anymore![:I]

Contact castle metal finishing.....located in Hudson, Mass. I have seen his great work.......he also does all the plating for Dave Thibeault.

Not nuts about T-Bow's plater. he did the chrome on Caesar and the center and side grill need to be redone after less then a year. T-bow's say they'll do it no charge, but still a concern. They did the chrome on my Golden Hawk too, it was fine, but darn expensive at the time. ($4500, 7 years ago)

I do excellent chrome plating here and it stays on. On small items which are available repro, it is most often more economical to buy the repros. I just got a nice '55 center grill & some 53 grill bezels out of the shop which will be available soon. All needed serious repairs & are now perfect.

Actually I saw a car with a front bumper that Thibeault's guy had done just last night, it looked fine... win some, lose some I guess.
