  • Transmission / Overdrive: Flightomatic Linkage Bushing

Need some help in finding a part or part number.

Recently acquired a 56 Sky Hawk. Obtained vehicle from an estate auction and not much information. Vehicle was not a driver when purchased but was advised it did turn over and start when fuel was introduced into the carb.

Sure enough a new fuel pump and battery solved the starting problems, but now I come to find out that the car will not shift into gear. Crawled under the car (saw a lot I didn't expect) and noted that the linkage and bushing where the shift lever connects to the manual lever on the transmission had excessive play. Closer examination determined that the linkage was not properly reconnected and the bushing was improperly installed and badly worn. (see photo)

Does anyone have a part number for this bushing or know of a modern day replacement that will fit?

I'd bet Ed Reynolds (Studebaker International) would have that part.
