    I thought I'd posted this earlier... but it didn't show up... anyway just buy a generic 14" round air filter and use the R1 element in it, then use the R1 top over the generic base. Will work fine with an Edelbrock although you may have to trim the base back a little for best airflow. (I am using a '64? 'vette top, same size as R1 on a generic modern base on my car with an R1 element, but it has louvers instead of being smooth.)
