64 t cab -- splash shields

  • 64 t cab -- splash shields

    I am trying to find the Stude part # of the fender apron splash shields that go on a 64 T-cab. The parts manuel shows the aprons but no splash shields. These were stapled on the aprons. Any one know if these are carried by any vendors? What material are they made out of? Looks like some sort of neoprene rubber.

    My car has them fabricated from a tough type of, spongy, neophrene matting, about 1/4" thick. The only thing I could equate it to was the old type computer printer mat.

      It's listed with the front fender parts, but not illustrated. Name is "seal, fender to cowl", p/n 1331760, same as in '59-'60 Larks. Many vendors have them, about $7.50. See Stude International catalog, page 58:

        There's some conveyor belt material that's close as well. Of course, it takes finding some old belting to be able to get some.[:I]

          Gary, isn't that the one that goes on the upper rear portion of the fender -- rear hood area ?
          The ones I am talking about go to the bottom of the inner fender aprons.

            Yes, Kerry, NOW I see what you mean! That "thing" doesn't seem to be listed as a separate part. I also checked the '59-'64 car chassis parts book for the Lark fenders, but it's listed the same way, just the complete apron.

            If you have one for a pattern, big truck mud flaps made from re-processed shredded tires make good material. It cuts with a Sawzall or jig saw.

            Also, try calling Dave Spilski at SASCO. He's their truck guy, knows about these little details.
