I am wanting to put a 289 with a bellhousing for a T98 into my 61 Champ pickup that has a 3 speed w/od. Is the pickup 3 speed a T85 or T86? And will it bolt up to the T98 bellhousing? Thanks. Bruce.

And no, neither are a direct boltup to the T98 bell. The good news is truck 3-speed bellhousings are thick on the ground. Put out a WTB in your local SDC chapter to save shipping.

It is the 170 6 cyl. Can I use the bellhousing from the 170 if I dial it in with the 289?1958 Transtar 3E6-122
