  • Electrical: Suggestion for brake light

Any suggestions as to adding a third brake light to an Avanti?

I know of those that sit on the rear package shelf, but do not want to cut up or drill holes in the rear shelf if possible.

I got one from JC Whitless for my '63 Cruiser (which I no longer have). It stuck to the glass with two-sided tape so was easy to remove. It did require a wire be run from the brake light circuit through the package shelf but, the wire was small enough I could thread it between the shelf and body without creating any noticeable hole. It worked just fine. I no longer see it in their online site but, maybe in their catalog.

Check out the Ron Francis wiring stuff.
They have a nice little, unobtrusive, single LED row, brake light. They have three actually. they are a small stick on (the window) deal. The have three different angles to the housings to (somewhat) fit most applications.

I've also been looking for something that doesn't take up the whole back window, this seems like it might do the trick. No haven't bought one yet, but it's on the short list to do so.

I have one of the Ron Francis units but haven't installed it yet. I plan on doing so before Dover.

Just about any of your local flapps will have an LED light (usually plastic) that can be attached to either the window, or the package shelf using two sided tape. The wiring is small enough that you can run it behind the headliner, or between the package tray and rear seat.
