Bought several of these plastic cam boxes from Roush-Yates Racing Engines in Mooresville, NC several months ago.
They were having a sale, and I made 'em an offer on a batch of them.
They were setting on a shelf in the shop...until today.
Took the cams out of their tubes... Wiped them down, and oiled them up again.
Took Phil Harris's reconditioned lifters and stuffed them into the lifter holders. Left them sealed up in their bags.
Much better way to store cams...

Operating room clean as You please ,that is a smart thing to do. are they sealed containers in case of water issues?

They have a snap on cover (that snaps on pretty snug)..
While I would not say it is waterproof, it would be pretty water resistant, as well as dust resistant.

No...
They just lay there like they did in the old cardboard tube.
What do you suggest?

I have to laugh at myself...
Know someone named Engel, and for the life of me I never keep the name Engel and the company Engle straight.

I can remember going upstairs at SASCO back in 1996 and seeing a pallet with sides about three feet high, half full of cardboard tubes. When I asked the guy with me what would have been packed in tubes like that, he said, "oh, those are just NOS camshafts."

Well, the bearing journals are so close in size, that likely the cardboard tube provides enough support. I was concerned that maybe those containers were made for Brand X cams, and would wind up with the Stude cam being supported only at the ends, in which case it might warp from long storage. I know we are "supposed to" store crankshafts vertically. Maybe a layer of foam padding is all that would be needed?
