700R4 poor install?

    Mine's a '70. It was before Avanti Motors transitioned from the Power Shift to the HydraMatic. I was surprised when I bought the car it had the Borg Warner in it...leaking like a sieve but it was there.

        That's certainly could play a part. I have heard of Avanti II owners who have reported the same clearance issues, but we'll likely never really know for sure. Early Avanti II's used leftover Studebaker bodies and later were new production from MFG. There's a lot of variables to take into account...and maybe still no definitive answer.

          Yes, there we have it. Your '70 Avanti II with a SBC doesn't have the floor clearance issue with the TH700R4 governor. Our two '63s with Stude V8 do. Good to know some IIs don't and thus far all Studes do, so whatever causes the difference isn't the issue, just that it is there and has to be accommodated on original recipe cars.
