  • Engine: Stock Valve Spring Pressure?

What is a stock valve spring pressure at installed height?

What is a R1/R2 valve spring pressure at installed height?

Thanks, inquiring minds would like to know.

For the V8 I'm not sure about the installed height pressure but would guess around 70 pound but the open pressure is 105 to 115. For the R 1 and 2 I would guess about 80 seat but are 125 to 135 at 1 3/4".

If you want the specs for the R 2+ springs they are 90 seat and 155 at 1 3/4". And don't worry if you got the R 2+ as far as being legal for PSMCDR. The rules allow max of 130 seat pressure.

    See you Thursday or Friday.

Thanks for the replies. I took my springs that I removed over to my engine builder and tested them in his spring pressure tester. With a vernier at 2" they measured 80#.

Would these be stock springs? I would like to know if I wasted my time changing them out.

Did you get the stock R 2 springs or the R 2+ from Phil? If stock R springs you should be a little better off but the R 2+ would be better.

Still learning Ted, probably got the stock R2 springs. That was a mistake.
