  • Braided battery cables

When sold originally in 1955 did Studebaker use the flat braided battery cables for the ground only or were they used on both neg. and positive posts? Thanks.

They didn't. It would be a major faux pas to use the braided cable on the hot side of the battery. Opportunities for a direct short would great (and would probably happen within hours of installation [:0])

Thanks Dick. That's what I thought, but I had someone else tell me the cables should match. Will have '00' size cable made up for the other. Thanks.

That's very common nowdays for people that have never owned or maybe even SEEN a car older than 1980, try to tell you how your car should be! [xx(] They think it should look like a 2006!!

I am glad to hear you are doing it RIGHT, and ordering a 00 gage "Hot" (-)cable for your 6 volt positive ground '55 rather than buying one of those readily available 12V skinny cables that do NOT carry enough amps for a 6V ! [^]
