  • Fuel System: Fuel sending unit

The gas gauge in my newly acquired 1959 Silver Hawk is not working. Can I access the tank sending unit without dropping the tank, e.g. through an access panel in the trunk floor? Thanks.

While you're in there, check the fifty-year-old mounting straps and bolts. More than one tank has fallen out on the road.

Yes you can access the sender through the hole in the trunk.
