You learn something everyday. I have a 47 Champ and never have really looked at it under the dash. From under the hood it looks like the later years and I assumed it was the same.

Hi Milt. Mine is like the attached picture with no Y. I think the Y started with the 1949 cars per the parts book. The spigot the hose mounts to is rusted away. I was wondering if the piece the spigot mounts too is part of the body weldement or a bolt on part on the 47. Looks like it is part of the weldment as I can't find it in the parts book anywhere.

I can't speak specifically for a 47 but the duct on my 54 is attached to the blower motor with a sheet metal screw. Dave British Columbia

    started a topic Cool/Heat: 1947 Champion Defroster

    1947 Champion Defroster

I was working on the 47 last night and managed to get the heads off the two bolts left holding the heater control valve and switches up. I then took the radio out. I see the defroster duct is quite rusty and the spigot for the hose is rusted away. Would anyone know if the defroster duct/plate that the 47 champions use is bolted or welded in place? If bolted, i will try to get a new one made or a better used one - especially for the right hand side.
I would appreciate nay help on this. Upside of getting the radio out is now I can get in there and fix the crossed windshield wiper cables to get the right hand wiper going the right way.
