  • 64 Lark wiring legend

I'm looking in my 59-64 maintainence manual for the color and circuit legend for 64 Larks. It shows the circuit legend for 62 on page 1 and the wire diagram for 64 on page 15 but I can't find the circuit legend for 64 in order to chase down the dash wiring harness circuits.
Where might I find this info or is my book missing this page?

I don't think there is a legend for the 64 wiring diagram. None of my shop manuals, including one well-worn original, include a legend covering anything after 1962. Fortunately, most of the wire colors and gauges are the same as 62.

I just replaced the wires in my 1955 President. I labeled each wire as it was disconnected. Tags on a string worked best.( The 'stick-on' labels tended to get dirty and the writting goes around the wire making the stick-on label difficult to read.) I then laid the old harness next to the new harness and labeled each end of the new harness. The headlight switch proved to be the most challenging. Car started the first time and has run flawless since,a good project, replace the old wires.Goog Luck.

Kerry, my research indicates that while the wiring harnesses themselves are different between 1963 and 1964 cars, the wiring diagram and colors are the same for both. Last year I re-drew the '63-'64 wiring diagram in color; Chuck Collins has it posted on his site.

        Here's the link:

        Hope that helps.

Thanks, Clark! One day I'll have a '63 Lark, so I've saved a copy of your colored wiring diagram onto my computer.

Did you recreate all those symbols? Amazing. You should make this drawing into 11x17 laminated diagrams and sell copies on eBay like the ones I saw the other day: http://stores.ebay.com/Classic-Car-Wiring . He has a few colored diagrams for Studebakers, but still lacks one for the 63-64 Lark. Fill the void & sell him the rights to reproduce your work, or do what he's done and sell big laminated copies yourself. Seems to me you're the only one who has a right to make a profit off of your own work:

Did anyone else see the flux capacitor in that drawing? Its labeled 'Alternator.'
