  • Jaguar wheels on a Commander?

I would love to put wire wheels on my Commander. I have seen 15x5 Dayton knock off style wheels meant for Jaguars at what seems to me a good price. I know I can get the knock off adapters. Anyone try these? Anything I should check before I spend my money?
    Thanks![8D]

Contact Dayton, they have a customer service number for such questions. (Though their interchange book may not list Studes (gee, I wonder why?)

Many years ago, in the 70's, I machined the front hubs from a Jag and bolted them to the hubs of my Avanti. The wire wheels look great in the sun. I ran them for about 50k miles until I got tired of the hour cleaning time. I have set my other chassis up that has the full Jag suspension for wires. Try to get the later wheel as they have more spokes and are stronger. The V12 wheels are wider.

I had some 15x7 Jag bolt-on wires on my '55 coupe for a while. Had to use hub adapters as the Jag wheels were 5 on 4.75" but it worked out well because I needed to poke them out a little toward the outside of the car anyway due to their deep offset. they looked pretty good but they just weren't the look I was going for with the car. Due to the offset of the combination of wheels and spacers I had (I think the spacers were 1") the 215/70s that were on the wheels looked like about as wide as I'd want to go; with a thinner spacer you could go wider.
