  • Avanti-Who's running electric fans?

Lately, whenever I take the Avanti to work it comes back broken! A few
weeks ago it was the trans and today as I'm about 15 minutes from home I
start smelling anti-freeze and the temp gage is creeping up. Made it home
pop the hood and see a little steam by the radiator. While I'm looking
under the hood there is a stream of coolant shooting out from the front of
    the radiator about 3 feet!

So I need to pull it all out and I'm wondering if I might try an electric
    fan.

    Opinions and recommendations?

An electric fan won't cure a leaking radiator. Have the radiator re-cored. This will cure the leaks.

Tom, Jees! I hope you're funnin' me.

Since I will be taking the radiator out for repair I thought about re-assembling it with an electric fan assembly.

I was hoping for a suggestion as to the effectiveness, from experience, of the electric fan and also from that person the type of electric fan that is being used, succesfully, in their Avanti.

No problem Ernie ... though make sure you get the extra powerful fan
to push the leaking coolant back into the radiator.[)][](joke)

I have an added electric pusher fan on my '81 with a toggle switch inside......what's another toggle switch in this car anyway? There must be 6 of them, and I know what 3 of them do.....

Tried and eletric once[] Didn't change the running temp. The lack of noise was nice. Had a relay fail in traffic.[xx(] Car got hot. Put flex fan on it.

I have an aluminum radiator and a 15" puller electric fan. It still runs hot in traffic, but it runs nice and cool on the highway.

Hey Dan, I thought you were going to put a larger diameter electric fan on the Avanti. This weather would be a great trial to see if it would work. You ought to let these guys in on your aluminum radiator install. I couldn't believe how inexpensive it was and how well it fit.
