  • Drive Shaft: U - Joint From Nate's Cross Referance. Help?

I just pulled the drive shaft from my Hawk, Bought the "429" Napa and it did not fit, which is a big bummer. My front u-joint is shot so can't go back in. The Hawk is out of commission until I find another one

SI has two listed with different part numbers for front and rear u joints, so did Nate's page.

    Nate's list the 429 and 505 Napa's.

Napa's new 429 does not fit the front yoke.

Does anybody have a good part number for the front u-joint in my 64 GT Hawk from a FLAPS?

Both are mechanic's style u- joints front and rear.

    Thanks, Allen

Found this as well. Different part numbers all together.

I spoke to the Local Napa parts guy and he gave me the Yoke opening and cup stats on the 507. The 507 is the Universal that you need if you have a mechanics style front yoke in you 64 Hawk. I measured the yoke to 2.34 and the cup size was 1". I then took my old u-joint to the FLAPS along with my caliper to measure the 507 to my old one. They were identical.

No, Precision #369 is for the outside snap ring type u-joints that are very commonly used on Studebakers EXCEPT for '63 and '64. As stated above, #507 front and #505 rear are correct for the inside snap ring u-joints.

Sorry, this is a Spicer style U-joint NOT a Mechanics U joint.
