  • Its ALIVE!!! The Avanti DROVE today!! now w/pics!

    UPDATE : July 17th - It moves, see todays post below.

    I feel like Dr Frankenstein. It fired up, ran, nothing leaks (so far)
    and it sounded good. Turned the wheels back & forth according to the
    shop manual. Fluid went down, added more (only takes a quart??). So
    far so good. I want to take it for a drive!!!!

    '63 Avanti, zinc plated drilled & slotted 03 Mustang Cobra 13" front disc/98 GT rear brakes, 03 Cobra 17" wheels, GM alt, 97 Z28 leather seats, soon: 97 Z28 T-56 6-spd, Ported heads w/SST full flow valves, 'R3' 276 cam, Edelbrock AFB Carb, GM HEI distributor, 8.8mm plug wires

      Congratulations. I have been following your posts on the power steering as I need to do mine too. It is great to know there is an end to it!

            It got too late to take it out of the garage tonight, getting things
            ready for the parents visit during my wifes surgery on Tuesday.

            I hope to drive it to In N Out on friday in Santa Barbara.

                            You will never guess the first stop for the Avanti, ok, maybe its a
                            no-brainer .. Gas Station!! MMMM yummy 91 octane at a bargin $3.40!





                            Here's the oil pressure it runs at 50 mph (speedo/tach/fuel are wrong):



                            Here is the temp it runs ... 145 degrees?



                            Decided to stop at the flower field just outside of town for a few
                            pictures. Beautiful day .. a little breezy though.
