  • Steering: From power steering to manual

Hello. I have had my 1962 Cruiser with 289 for ten years, and it seems that every two years, I have to have work done on the PS. I was wondering what would be involved in changing over to a manual steering unit?

To: S Ferrell,--- I believe You can convert to manual steering as simply as removing all the power steering components and installing a manual steering pitman arm off the box and appropriate manual steering
reach rod. But because of the different ratios, unless You also swap the steering box itself for a manual one, the car will steer quite heavy at lower speeds.
