How does the aluminum panel come off the Hawk dash? Want to paint dash. Try and not bend the panel.[xx(]

Got a weekend ? You need to pull all the gages, then the nuts on the back.

Previous post neglected to mention removing the "nuts" for the switches and carefully bending the tabs on the speaker grille, and removing the metal switch identification "labels". Some panels have a small amount of "light adhesive", as does the glove box panel, which need to be carefully "worked". tempestan

And not to mention undoing the clips and little bolts that hold the trim to the dash pad and removing the dash pad that is glued down!

Thank God, I don't have a padded dash. Are you sure the I.D. tabs are fastened to the dash or just aluminum panel?

Yes; their tabs are bent on the back of the fiberglass dash because they go on the ridge at the bottom of the dash, not the machine turned panel. You do have a '56-'61 type dash in that Power Hawk, not a '62-'64 right?

While we're on the subject, how much longer is the dash in a Hawk compared to the dash in my '54 LC? Has anyhone tried to install the Hawk dash into a non-wraparound sedan--if so, with what results?

              TIA
