Could someone please send me a picture or point me to a picture of a correctly installed hood pad for my 55.
    Thanks

Are you sure it had one originally? I probably just never looked that close, but I don't remember seeing a 55 with a hood insulation. I know this is no help.

The part # for it is 2033x2
It is not centered on the hood but offset to the right and rear. You can see a little of it in the engine photo of Johannessen's car in the article in Collectible Automobile Oct. 1998

I just snapped some pics of the remains of the pad on the underside of the hood of my '55 coupe. will post later.

Don't know if it was original or not but, when I bought my '53 Coupe in 1976 it had the insulation; also had a couple strips of wood (ash or poplar) 1/8" thick and 2 3/8" wide wedged laterally across the underside of the hood to retain the insulation. I never saw anything like that before and, assuming it wasn't original, someone went to a lot of trouble to make them look and fit correct.

Just today I installed a new pad in my '53; intended to center it but got it just an inch or so to the passenger side.

you know, I just realized that the underside of my hood has obviously been repainted, as my car was originally blue. But here's the pics anyway, I think this is probably about the right location.
