  • Engine: Is there a PCV valve in there?

I hook up my vacuum hose from the carb to the crankcase tube and the engine just shutters. I plug the hose with something and it runs fine. Is there a traditional valve in the tube somewhere?

There should be a fitting with a Ball check valve that would be screwed into the rear of the Original Carter AFB Carb. base, it had a 3/8" hose nipple built in, the check ball may be stuck wide open or missing. Yes it requires a PCV Valve of some kind, these were what was originally used by the Factory.
