Frame / Springs: Moog CC655 Front Springs In A 56J

I know these springs have been touted widely on this NG. But just wanted to say, since they worked out so well in our GT Hawk, I decided to install set in our 56J. Did the install today, and after a short test drive, they work equally well in a 56J. If anything, this 56J is a little heavier in the front than most, since it has power steering AC, yet it sets near identicle to the GT. Of course I installed a 3/16" spacer in the drivers' side, per standard Stude proceedure to compensate for the weight difference.

Whoever originally researched these springs for V8 Studes really did their homework, and I am very grateful.

That would be Jim Pepper, Joe, AFAIK. I'm not sure where he got the idea or information, but he first exposed the application through The Co-Operator maybe a year ago.

Are you going to come up to the SDC Indy Chapter Christmas Party December 17th? If you are, let me know and I'll bring the door. The door is not at all in the way, though, so "no problem" if it sits here until next year. (With no trim panel on it, I figure it will give the mice a nice place to build their winter nest and keep them away from my cars.) JUST KIDDING. BP

Just moved the 52 over to storage for the winter, moved the Avanti to the "workshop" side of the garage. The front end will be completely gone through this winter, including the Moog springs.

Thanks Bob, I am gonna put the Indy Christmas Party on the list, depending on the weather. It's about 300 miles round trip, and that's just too far (boring)to drive a brand X. So, if it looks like Stude weather I am gonna try real hard to make it. Will let you know when it gets a little closer and the weather forecast is in sight. Where, exactly is it in Indy?

All I can say is, after way over 500 miles now and settled in, the front end of the GTsets about 26.5" from lower edge of the front fender to the ground, measured at a point where the tape intersects the front axle. To me, 26-27 inches have always seemed optimal, but that's just personal preference. If you use that as a reference point, it may be helpful indetermining if they would work for you, as far as height is concerned.

Wait just a darn minute there Joe, are you sure? 26 to 27 inches from the BOTTOM of the fender to the ground? Mine measure right at 10 inches right behind the front wheelwell.

Wouldn't that be about the same as a 4X4 Monster Truck?
You can't be serious, does that look stock to you?

Just ran out to the shop and measured my 56 Hawk which is set at the ride height I hope to acheive.....and it is at 25 1/4" Fender opening to ground.
26 1/2" is too high for me.

Sorry to confuse you Rich, I meant from the bottom edge of the fender wheel well, if that's any clearer. If you start at the ground, go straight up, intersect the center of the front wheel/hubcap, and continue till you run into the lower edge of the fender wheel well, that is the point I referenced.
