  • Engine: engine bay reassembly

when i pulled the engine (57 GH), I took out the PS pump first, but left the power steering gear box in the engine bay until after the engine was pulled.

Now that everything's going back in, is it best to put in the (Saginaw) PS box before the engine goes in?

You probably have more room in a K body than I did in a D body.

When I put power steering in my 56 wagon, it was a real puzzle to get the steering box past the valve cover and edge of the head. I may have even taken off the valve cover. The difficulty was mostly because of the weight of the box and the weakness of my aching old back.

Anyway, I would put the box in first, just the reverse of how you disassembled it.
