  • Engine: Deep-N-Hock Follies - November 2011

Christmas came early here at Deep-N-Hock Acres!

A 64 pound box showed up at the back door while I was up in Richmond, VA....
(A museum quality box...ruined by modern shipping stickers)

Was a tad worried when I picked up the box and it clanked...
(How could UPS break a crankshaft? Er, don't say that Jeff...it could happen)
Upon opening the box I found bonus stuff!!!

The box itself is worthy of notice...
        Here's a few pic's for posterity...

Here's the front crank snout support.
Has a thick 'wrap' that cups the end of the crank.

Here's the backside of the same piece.
The cup is only halfway through the board(s).

How it looks with the crank snout in place in the paper cup.

This is the rear mount in the crate (which was broken in transit).

This is how it should have looked....

And in the box was a piece of treated paper.
here is what is says on the backside...
Was it what they handled the crankshaft with?
Did it off-gas to keep moisture from corroding the crankshaft?
        Inquiring minds want to know.....

              289...
Just have to gap the rings, and take all the rotating stuff in for balancing....
Massage the dual crank scraper and put together the short block...
              Coming along....slowly...
