  • Body / Glass: 1950 Champion Rocker Trim

    Hey Gang,

I was wondering if anyone know hows to remove the stainless steel rocker trim the correct way off of a 1950 Champion 4door.

I'm gonna refinish it and I don't wanna make it worse then it is, the manual says nothing and parts manual doesn't show a good picture of it so I'm not really sure what to do

    Thanks

IF the 50 is anything like the 52's, use a clip tool (for removing door trim panels) and pry from the bottom, once you get the first one to pop off, you'll see the rest and get then too. pry as close to the clip as you can. Then you'll need to look and see how the clips attach. This is all based on my 52, but the 50's "might" be the same.

You may want to examine the front edge. There are usually two tabs that are pinched between the fender and pillar. It may be necessary to loosen the bottom couple fender bolts to extract without damaging that leading edge.

'50-'52 should be the same. New clips are available from SI. Note which side is up and which side is down. When re-installing, you just lay the molding over the top of the clips and lightly "whack" the bottom in place.

I have an extra set that fits a 52 hardtop but have never removed one.

I'm still looking forward to the day when my car needs them re installed .
