  • Transmission: Tranny Gasket

I'm putting together a T9 and the gasket kit has a gasket that goes between the tranny and bell housing. Is this gasket needed or did the gasket manufacturer go overboard? The parts manual does not show one in either the clutch section or the tranny section.

Sort of. There is the cluster shaft that is basically flush with the case. When I put the shaft in, before pounding in the last 1/4" or so I coated the shaft on both ends with some medium strength Locktight so that wouldn't leak. I have never seen a gasket there and there wasn't one when I took it off... Why would the dingbats make one and put it in the gasket kit?
