Hope you used a weld thru primer before welding those in! If not, sand as much into the seam as you can, and use a spray bomb etching primer, that will help on future rust. and Yes, a good 2 part seam sealer will also help, if air & moisture can not get to metal, it can not rust! Also remember, primer is NOT waterproof!! If you are not going to get it painted in the next few weeks, block it down, and re prime it, but mix some clear in with the primer, that will "water proof" it for a while.

Jim, thanks for the tips; I did not use weld thru primer but I did try to keep the bare metal spots where I welded as small as possible. I will do as you suggested. I am aware that primer is not waterproof, so I worry about having that area exposed since I will not be painting for some time. Great tip on mixing in some clear with the primer, l would not have thought of that.

        Joe,
No problem, that's an "old painters" trick

Rear fender on (temporarily); guide coat on fender; I still haven't put on the final primer/w clear that Jim suggested yet; need to do that soon since I won't be painting for quite awhile; reason being, I'm changing the color (per my wife's wishes) and I still have a few rust spots elsewhere to tend to.
