  • Engine: '81 Avanti & plug wires

Have a buddy who is looking for an exact fit for plug wires for his '81 Avanti (305).

He has gotten another set but because the wires go down around the manifold they are not correct.

    Any suggestions or parts numbers?

Most Avanti IIs I have seen came with the Delco plug wire sets that were appropriate to the Chevy engine in the car. Have you looked at what would have come on a 81 Malibu with 305 and the same carburetor?

I'm guessing the 1981 Avanti uses Rams Horn style exhaust manifolds; the Malibu/Caprice, etc. use rear dump units, maybe a set of Corvette spark plug wires since Vettes used Rams Horns style ones till maybe 1996?

If your buddy can't come up with an exact fit set of wires, it's not difficult to use a universal set and cut them to length. While spark plug crimping pliers are available, they're really not needed. Most quality wire manufacturers make universal sets in a variety of colors and boot angles.
