I looked at a nice little two door 62 Lark today. Looked like a litte old lady car. As I looked in the engine compartment I could not spot an oil filter anywhere on the 6 cyl engine. I expected it to be above the engine somwehere. I know that the 64s had a full flow block with a spin on down below, but I felt down there and don't think there was one. Where would it be? Also, I know that NOS front fenders are floating around for the 64-66s, but are there any available for a 62? Any with single headlights instead of duals? This car has duals, but I prefer the single, like the 59 thru 61 Larks. The front fenders are the only rust issue on this car, although I didn't look closely at the floorboards. -- thanks

Early 62's werent made with oil filters as they were still an option. Later in the model year they became standard on both the 6 & V-8. As far as NOS fenders, they are few & far between. Not saying nobody has them, but if there are, they are holding on to them for whatever reason.59 Lark wagon, now V-8, H.D. auto!

about the 62
OreStudeGuy, I'm in mid-missouri. If your fenders are COMPLETELY rust free, I might consider the steep price of shipping, and just live with the quad headlights. But I haven't actually bought the car yet. And as far as the dual vs quad question, I thought that maybe the fenders from the 61 might work. I know that the 59-60 won't work tho. It's a cute litte car, and I'm sorely tempted.

Also, sort of related to this- if I bought this car and added the oil filter, does that exteranl filter for the six cyl have the flow reducer in the line like the V8? Does anybody have the opeing size of that flow reducer? I think I may have one, but need to double check the size.

Leon, I don't want to discourage you but there is a possibility that the A pillars where the fenders bolt to the car could be correspondingly rusted as bad as the fenders. You won't know that until the fenders are removed. That said, with proper skill the fenders and A pillars can be rebuilt and repaired if you know how to wield a wire welder. The key is having enough good metal left for appropriately making a template for the patch panels. If there is as little as one-third of the upper fender left intact, it can be done.
As far as the oil restrictor fitting, they should be included in the filter kit. I have a local parts store who had them the last time I checked. A year or so ago, there was a great article in "Turning Wheels" that explained the oil filter installation and gave the size of the restrictor. Perhaps Bob Palma or someone here will read this and give you the exact size.

Since Studebake did build a few '1962' two door station wagons for a US Gov't order using left over 1961 bodyshells using 1962 fenders, front cap, etc. ..............I see no reason why you can't go the other way and use a complete 1961 clip. I also prefer the single headlight style.Originally posted by Leon View PostOreStudeGuy, I'm in mid-missouri.
