  • Cool/Heat: Water pump Q on OHV 6

Just getting ready to order a new water pump for my '61 Lark and I just wanted to validate with the collective wisdom here that it's the same pump for all 6's used from '59-64? Studebaker International and various other places list it as part #1563639. I've noticed there are different lengths on the drive shafts over time, and wanted to be certain I was getting what was required.

    Thanks as always!

54-64 cars use the same water pump which also fits trucks of those years. Pumps prior to that used a shorter shaft.

      Frank,

Many thanks! I'd have thought that be the case, but trying to measure twice / cut once approach for once in my life.

Don't forget that the tube to the heater is different (straight and longer) on the OHV6, due to the height of the cylinder head. You'll have to reuse the old one if your pump is not a true OHV 6.
