  • Transmission / Overdrive: Dexron or Type F?

As I recall flgihtomatics - all years - use type F fluid. Correct? This is a 1966 Cruiser.

I'm using Dexron III in the Automatic Drive Borg Warner DG200, which is earlier than your flightomatic. Someone will surely know. Good luck.

My understanding is Dexron is more highly refined and will give smoother shifts. Type F will give firmer shifts and less slippage. Years ago I was told that Type F is preferable.

I'm guessing if you flush the transmission thoroughly it probably won't make much difference as long as you stick with one.

I use Dexron/Mercon in my Daytona. Not necessairly an endorsement but I have had good luck with it.
