Stock Studebaker, or aftermarket? '56 Golden Hawk, '57 thru '61 Hawk, Avanti, non-R engine Lark or Hawk, R-engine Lark or Hawk, diesel truck? Not trying to be a smart a**, but there were a lot of different types of tach sending units used in Studebakers.

If it's the early mechanical you need, unless you find a NOS unit, assume it will need to be rebuild and a new wiring harness made up.

If it's the later electronic units, only buy from a known Stude vendor. Every electronic sending unit I've owned failed sooner or later. Get one with a guarantee it will work when installed.

FWIW, I'd never waste my money on technology which wasn't that good when new. The later Stewart-Warner tachs which did not use a sending unit can be installed behind the original bezel, face and needle. I'd pay for that service rather than a chancy sending unit.

The number on the NOS Tach box is 15 55 459

        The sending unit I'm looking for is # 15 55 474

For point reference: 62 K6 Hawk......

Thanks for the wake up question...I should have realized I hadn't completed my thought before I posted.

Studebaker International has them listed for $70 part number 800009 rectangular unit for 62-64 Hawks page 191. I'm sure most of the Vendors have them, take your pick.
