Was there a difference between the transmissions installed behind Champion and Commander motors (i.e. input shaft)? I have never owned an 3 speed overdrive truck, mostly 4 and 5 speeds.

From what I've heard and I could be wrong the tranny is the same on the comannders and the trucks. Champions are different. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Only want to spout correct info. Thanks

Anne, it should be a T-86 tranny, and yes, it was of the same nature as used behind Commander engines in cars. This is not to say it would readily bolt right up to a Commander car installation. There might be differences between input shafts and certainly (although probably not ALL that significant to performance), differences to the lower gears within the trans.

IS this the one out of that truck we stripped in Pick-n-Pull???
