  • Frame / Springs: torque spec for crossmember?

The service manual does not give a torque value for the bolt-in cross member that supports the trans on a 54 C Champion. The bolt size is 3/8 fine thread, and so going by that bolt size's torque value given for other bolts in the manual 40-45 lbs/ft seems to be the value....question is, is that too much for this application??? I would hate to 'squeeze' the frame rail walls together. What sayeth the ones who know? Thanks, Junior.

Use that torque spec and go on with impunity!
